Re “How to Kick the Oil Habit” (Aug. 23):

America needs a conservative energy policy. Kudos to Fortune for developing one, since the Bush administration has failed on that score.



A conservative energy policy will promote efficiency, reduce risk through energy portfolio diversification, and get rid of outdated subsidies that burden taxpayers and enrich established industries.



The man taking office on Jan. 20 won’t need a lot of high-priced energy advisers. For $4.99, he can buy an energy policy on the newsstand.

Good job, Fortune.
